A complex external restoration at the John Lewis flagship store was successfully delivered to a tight programme that had critical dependencies with other branch activities. A glass back-lit halo design was fitted to signpost the store and complement the ‘blade’ signage alongside the launch of the new John Lewis & Partnership brand identity.
Internally, feature lighting and picture framing elements were introduced. Architectural lighting was also fitted to highlight the vertical columns, refurbished elevations and the Barbara Hepworth ‘Winged Figure’ statue.
A fundamental part of this project, requiring a complex coordination of proposals, was the ‘Place to Eat’ terrace situated on the 5th floor. The balcony on the Oxford Street/Old Cavendish Street corner provides an outdoor dining space, invigorating the diversified use of this flagship store.
